sua superf{\'{\i}}cie. O uso de imagens com alta
resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o espacial e alta resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o
aplica{\c{c}}{\~o}es urbanas, pois a combina{\c{c}}{\~a}o
destas duas caracter{\'{\i}}sticas permite uma melhor
detec{\c{c}}{\~a}o e discrimina{\c{c}}{\~a}o de alvos. O
As
classifica{\c{c}}{\~o}es do N{\'{\i}}vel de Legenda 1
trabalhos indexados. J{\'a} as classifica{\c{c}}{\~o}es do
N{\'{\i}}vel 2 abordaram um n{\'{\i}}vel de legenda ainda
n{\~a}o reportado at{\'e} o momento na literatura
N{\'{\i}}vel 1 demonstraram que o m{\'e}todo RF {\'e}
N{\'{\i}}vel 2, no caso dos dados WV-2, o m{\'e}todo RF
demonstrou superioridade, e no caso dos dados SpecTIR,
demonstrou-se que os classificadores n{\~a}o s{\~a}o
significantemente diferentes.
dados do sensor SpecTIR apresentaram resultados significantemente
dados do sensor WV-2. Percebe-se com este importante resultado que
a caracteriza{\c{c}}{\~a}o precisa de alvos presentes no
ambiente urbano necessita efetivamente de uma alta
resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o espacial, entretanto, a jun{\c{c}}{\~a}o
dessa importante caracter{\'{\i}}stica com a alta
detalhados e precisos. ABSTRACT: Urban environments account for
one of the most challenging areas for remote sensing analyses due
to the great diversity of materials found at their surface. The
usage of high spatial and spectral resolution imagery arises as an
ideal solution for urban applications because the combination of
these two characteristics allows a better targets detection and
discrimination of targets. This thesis is committed to evaluate
two datasets: one exclusively composed by an orbital multispectral
image (WorldView-2) and attributes derived from its processing;
and another one solely composed by an airbone hyperspectral image
(SpecTIR) and attributes derived from its processing as well. For
classification experiments were conducted with each dataset
(multispectral and hyperspectral), using the C4.5 decision tree
and random forest methods at two distinct legend levels. Level 1
contains 11 urban land cover classes, and Level 2, a more refined
one, presents 38 urban land cover classes. Differences in
performance between the classification methods and the two
datasets were analyzed for these two levels. The eight
classification experiments produced attained high accuracy, with
Kappa indices ranging from 0.6712 to 0.7857, and global accuracy
varying from 70.07\% to 81.52\%. The classifications for Level 1
presented similar results to those found in previous peer-review
works. On their turn, the classifications for Level 2 dealt with a
legend level not yet reported in the scientific literature
hitherto, in which visually similar surface materials throughout
the scene could be individually characterized. The hypothesis
tests comparing the performance of classifiers for Level 1 using
the WV-2 dataset demonstrated that the Random Forest was
significantly superior to C4.5 classifications. Regarding the
Legend Level 2, the RF classifier was significantly superior for
WV-2. Concerning the SpecTIR datasets, both methods showed to be
not significantly different for classification results. When the
comparison focuses on the performance of the two datasets, it was
demonstrated for all legend levels and classifiers that the
results obtained with the SpecTIR sensor data were significantly
superior to those based on the use of the WV-2 data. It can be
inferred from these relevant results that the precise
characterization of urban targets effectively needs high spatial
resolution, however, the association of both high spatial and high
spectral resolution will certainly lead to increasingly detailed
and accurate results.",
